Resources for Parents & Educators
Literacy begins at home, with families and local communities. It takes a village to educate a child, and this is especially true when it comes to underserved and marginalised communities. As members of society, you can play a part by sharing our resources to raise awareness on the importance of literacy in a child’s life, as well as strategies and tools to grow literacy whether at home, in school, or in the community.

Audiobooks
All our written books in the Literacy Toolkit are accompanied by readily available audiobooks. They act as a supplementary resource to support reading aloud, a strategy proven to improve children’s listening skills, pronunciation and intonation. Reading along with audiobooks also enhance children’s vocabulary and reading fluency.

Read Aloud Videos
#ReadAtHome and #BacaDiRumah are campaigns which allow members of the public to record themselves reading a children’s book in English or Bahasa Malaysia. This campaign enables children who may not have books at home to participate in reading aloud. What makes this campaign important and unique is the connection it brings between a passionate reader who shares their way of storytelling to a listener eager to learn and enjoy stories. Although there is still the digital divide, this read aloud aims to close that gap through this bond.
