Our Reading Programme
Literacy Hub
MYReaders' flagship Literacy Hub is designed to be a structured and sustainable programme that provides children in need of English reading intervention with the tools and support that they need in order to develop strong reading skills.
We train, equip, and support teachers, parents, volunteers and student mentors to conduct regular remedial reading sessions in person as well as online. Literacy Hubs can be replicated in a school or a community setting. We hope to expand our programmes to reach more underserved children through the expansion of our Literacy Hubs.
Literacy Hub Models
Our Literacy Hub model can be carried out in a few ways and integrated in schools and communities.
Peer mentor model
In person
Older students are trained to be our student mentors to read with the younger students using the MYReaders Literacy Toolkit in their schools, at the same time developing their confidence and leadership skills.
Volunteer model
In person or online
Volunteers, our Literacy Tutors, join us in teaching underserved children in communities basic English reading skills. They use the MYReaders Literacy Toolkit to read one-to-one with the kids to focus on where they can continuously help build up a child's literacy in English. Currently, our Literacy Tutors read with their students online via WhatsApp.
Parent model
In person or online
Parents are their child’s first teachers. Through our parent model we empower the parents to read with their children in the safety of their homes through an online Google Classroom or via the MYReaders digital toolkit that has been pre-loaded onto their gadgets.

Since 2015, we have implemented

A Literacy Hub Story
Ms. Susila, a headmistress from one of our partner schools shares her experience of having to cultivate a reading environment and spark an interest to read, not only with her students but with her teachers as well.
Through her fruitful efforts, Ms. Susila and her teachers have seen an improvement in her students’ interest in reading.
