OUR MISSION

To empower children, through communities, by providing structured and sustainable reading programmes.

did you know that 10% of 13-17 year old students in almost half the schools in Malaysia do not know how to read?

52.7% of Malaysian students could not meet proficiency level 2 out of 6 in the PISA Reading Test.

In the PISA Reading Test, we ranked 58 out of 64 countries.

Illiteracy is still a huge problem in Malaysia, and something needs to be done about it.

MYReaders aims to help the many illiterate students in our country learn to read in English using a structured, research-based programme. We work to empower teachers, parents and on-the-ground movers through providing:

The MYReaders programme is very effective in helping students who struggle with mastering reading and writing skills. It has increased the reading ability of the 10 mentees in my school.
— Pn. Norini, SK Pendang 2, Kedah
Students have become more confident in English classes.
— Pn. Safrina, SK Bukit Jenun, Kedah
4 of my pupils passed their LINUS test and they are not LINUS pupils anymore (because they are able to read now).
— Pn. Halim, SK Guar Kepayang, Kedah
This program must be continued to enable students to gain proficiency in reading.
— Pn. Jufiza, SK Kuala Rimau, Kedah

What myreaders is...

  • To help children who struggle with literacy at NO FEE to students. The only costs will be licenses, printing of materials and folders for students.
  • It is meant as a literacy intervention program added to student's English lessons and classes.

What MYReaders is not...

  • It is not for profit, neither for the MYReaders team nor for teachers or community leaders.
  • It is not meant to replace the classroom English syllabus.
