CHARIS DING, CO-FOUNDER
Charis was a teacher in a secondary school in Sungai Petani, Kedah. She started teaching in 2013 as a fellow under the Teach for Malaysia program. Since 2014, she has carried out reading sessions for students in her school every Saturday with the help of student peer tutors and volunteers. Charis holds a BA in English from the National University of Malaysia (UKM). She is currently pursuing a MSc in Education at the University of Oxford. She can be contacted at email@example.com
Rachel Lim, Co-Founder
Rachel presently works in a social media company and was previously in e-commerce and edtech startups. She began teaching in 2014 and ran the first MYReaders literacy program in her school. It displayed remarkable success and growth, with students improving 40.2% on average in reading growth after 12 weeks. ALEX LIM, co-founder & government and external relations
Alex was an English teacher in Sungai Petani, Kedah. He started teaching in 2013. Believing that students can do more than merely receive information from adults, he rallied his students to mentor younger students in his school to read and in doing the same, grow student leaders. TAY SUE YEN, co-founder & training and programmes
Sue Yen is an English and Biology teacher. She ran a volunteer-based reading programme in a high-need secondary school as a Teach for Malaysia fellow, impacting 113 students and 120 volunteers. She finds joy in empowering communities and schools that run literacy programs for the underprivileged. In her free time she bakes pies and cheesecakes.
